Cetaryl Alcohol

A nourishing waxy substance derived from vegetable oils creates the perfect environment for skincare formulations to work effectively on the skin. It is classified as a fatty alcohol, which is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol—two other emollient fatty alcohols. Although it is chemically an alcohol (due to the presence of an -OH group in its structure), its properties are quite different from those of low molecular weight or drying alcohols like denatured alcohol. Fatty alcohols feature a long oil-soluble tail, which makes them emollient, non-drying, and non-irritating.
